Overview

Perspectives is the official quarterly journal of the AUA (Association of University Administrators). We are seeking to appoint a new Joint Principal Editor to start on 1st August 2019 for an initial period of three years to work on our well-regarded and widely-read professional journal Perspectives: Policy and Practice in Higher Education. The successful candidate will bring scholarship, intellectual rigour, academic credibility and a professional practice focus to the publication. In 2019/2020 the appointee will work with David Law.

Joint Principal Editorship of Perspectives offers an exciting opportunity to make a contribution to the intellectual discourse of higher education leadership, management and administration, and support the ongoing professionalisation of the sector at a time when HE has an unprecedented profile on the international socio-political and economic agenda. There is a significant budget for any expenses incurred in the role and an annual honorarium (currently £935).

Person specification

The successful candidate will be able to demonstrate scholarship and practice in the field of professional HE administration, management and leadership and will possess excellent written skills preferably with a record of published papers.

The successful candidate will:
• work closely and effectively with potential contributors and authors to develop submissions;
• use strong organisational and time management skills;
• demonstrate an appreciation and dedication to the AUA’s statement of values.

Preference may be given to an individual who can show continuing commitment to AUA but applications are not restricted to current members. If a non-member is appointed, she or he would be required to join AUA.
