Coaching is a very powerful way of developing people in their personal and professional lives and is becoming more widely used within higher education. In times of change, it can enable people to understand their emotional responses to change and develop tools that enable them to take personal responsibility for planning their personal and professional actions.
You may not know much about coaching or may not considered it as something that you could apply in your role yourself, but coaching is an approach that we are all capable of using and to great effect.
This interactive workshop will introduce you to coaching skills like active listening and non-directive questioning and teach you the theory behind the GROW model of coaching. To support your learning and to support the development of your coaching skills you will practice applying the GROW model using a ‘live’ example from your role. As a group, we shall consider how to overcome some common coaching problems and there is time for personal reflection on what you have learnt.
This development day will introduce you to coaching and provide you with the insight and encouragement to apply coaching in your everyday working life.
